In June 2016, Rodrigo Duterte took over as the President of the Phillipines, after a contoversial tenure as Mayor of Davao City. Duterte was known for his tough tactics against criminals, which allegedly included the use of vigilante groups. He picked up the nickname of 'The Punisher' for this.
