Jacob Goldman, who passed away in 2011, trained as a physicist and eventually became chief scientist at a major technology corporation.
His biggest contribution, however, is likely to be seen as the founding of a lab dedicated solely to research, in one of the earliest companies to make such a focused investment in its domains of work.
