Excerpts and versions of this work (a loose collection of personal thoughts and reminiscences) have appeared in print as early as 1924 and 1940. The first volume of the authorized version released last month. Some have likened the book's structure to that of a blog because the author chose to "start it at no particular time of your life; wander at your free will all over your life; talk only about the thing which interests you for the moment; drop it the moment its interest threatens to pale". This attitude to an autobiography was quite innovative then, and perhaps reflects the author's personality as well.
