Alberto Granado, who died in March this year, was an Argentinian (later Cuban) doctor and writer. He is best known for a 1952 trip (and a book he wrote about it) that began in Argentina and traversed several countries in South America. Given what became of his companion (for whom the trip was a formative experience), the book later became an important reference for films on the trip.
So who was his companion on this trip?
