The O. Henry Award is given annually to two or three of the best short stories of the year. One of 2005's winners was the story "Refuge in London", written by someone who knew a lot about being a refugee in London, and who also had a unique distinction in the world of awards.

Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, the writer who passed away in April 2013. She is the only person to have won a Booker Prize (for "Heat and Dust"), as well as an Academy Award (two in fact: "A Room with a View" and "Howard's End").
