In July 2013, KTVU (a TV station based in Oakland, California) put out a news report based on information received from the National Transportation Safety Board (an American governmental agency), containing the names such as "Sum Ting Wong," "Wi Tu Lo," and "Bang Ding Ow".
This information was shown to be wrong, so KTVU apologised; nevertheless, a firm announced that it would be suing KTVU.
Which airline, and why did they find this news report offensive?
[+ Show Answer]
Asiana Airlines, a Korean carrier, suffered a plane crash at San Francisco airport earlier that month. The names, obviously fake, were given out as the name of the pilots of that plane, which KTVU carried on air.
More here. (
update: they have dropped plans for the suit)
