Olof Palme was the Prime Minister of Sweden from 1982 till 1986 when he was mysteriously assassinated in Stockholm (he was accompanied by his wife Lisbet). This case has not been solved till date, spawning several conspiracy theories.

The case came back to national prominence with the news that a former Swedish journalist (now deceased), who had conducted his own investigation, had given police some papers and the name of a possible suspect. This made headlines because of the fame of this journalist, who had died a few years after the turn of the millennium.
