The Russian Grand Prix is a new addition to the F-1 calendar, making its debut in the 2014 season. This is going ahead after obtaining the go ahead from another international organisation which had been given the power to veto this Grand Prix, and push it to 2015 if preparations for the GP interfered with something else.

The International Olympic Council. The Russian GP will be held in Sochi, the site of the 2014 Winter Olympics. In fact, it will be held close to the Sochi Olympic Park. If work for the race had interefered with the Olympic prep, the IOC could have pulled the plug on the 2014 race.
