Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a drug designed to help people which was recently in news on 3 September 2015 as the practical tests have shown that people who took the drug found it beneficial. Scientists studied 650 people who took the drug over a 32-month period. USA, France, Australia, Israel, Canada, Kenya, and South Africa have approved PrEP.

Contracting HIVPrEP is a treatment for people who do not have HIV but who are at substantial risk of getting it. It can be used to prevent HIV infection by taking a pill every day. The pill (brand name Truvada) contains two medicines (tenofovir and emtricitabine) that are used in combination with other medicines to treat HIV.
