While it's not clear who exactly coined it, this term (a letter away from a piece of equipment in another Olympic sport) is believed to have been the invention of Severin Lüthi. Lüthi, a man with a Harry-Potter-esque name, has been team captain of the Swiss Davis Cup team for a few years.
