The 63rd National Awards for Indian Films were given away in May 2016. This legendary artist received an award for his 1000th film, but did not show up to receive the award. Reportedly, this was because he disagreed with the validity of the category he had received the award for, saying it seemed to indicate he had done an 'incomplete job'
