One of Nowitzki's nicknames is "Diggler", which he gets from a character in a 1997 film by Wes Paul Thomas Anderson. The character, played by Mark Wahlberg, takes on the screen name of "Dirk Diggler" after becoming a star in a certain (unbecoming) genre of movies.
