Since 1998, only two people have had this honour. One was Neha Ahuja who did so in 2006. The other person did so in 1998, 2002, and 2010.

The other person is the Indian winter sports athlete Shiva Keshavan. Ahuja and he have been the flag bearers for India at the last four Winter Olympics. Since the International Olympic Committee has suspended the Indian Olympic Council, there will be no formal Indian contingent at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and Indian participants will be represented by the Olympic flag.
