This phrase was first used on May 4, 1979, the day Margaret Thatcher took office as Prime Minister. The Conservatives, placed a congratulatory advertisement in a paper saying “__________________, Maggie. Congratulations.”

For many, May 4 is the Star Wars day and the aforementioned phrase means an easy pun on one of its famous catchphrases.
Star Wars Day became so popular that May 5 has also come to be called something which is in turn a play on one of the movie titles.
