Lindsey Vonn is the first American skier to win an Olympic gold medal in the Downhill discipline of alpine skiing (in 2010). She has also won four World Cups in her sport, which makes her a much feted sportsperson in her field.
In 2013, she became associated with another sport (from the Summer Olympics side, it can be said) for other reasons; her appearance at one of the four major annual tournaments in that sport (held in April 2013) also made news.
